Beschreibung: This papertriestoprovide a perspective on energyinformatics that goes beyond solely technical research. Combiningthe viewpointsofenergy informatics andinformationsystems in a review of top-ranked literature,weaim to start the discussion howtobridge thegap between a technology-driven focus on big datapossibilities(such as smart grid, smart metering, etc.) and a business model-driven perspective (innovation, price-reduction, CRM, etc.). With this paperwe further underline thenecessity of an interdisciplinary research approach and try to investigatea value chain-oriented implementation of big datainitiatives. Especially in theEuropeanelectricity branch, big data–interms of smart metering–seems in some cases to be implemented in order to fulfil governmental regulations. CRM as well as corporations’ change management has been neglected. By conducting astructured literature review, the status quo of smart meter related big data(initiatives) in energy informaticsand informationsystems will be discovered,and a research agenda forfurther research in this area will be provided.
